Close Up Of Ants

I got some great snapshots earlier today of Reality Forest ants with Gina in the background.

This is the best picture of Gina that turned out.

All of the other pictures I took were blurry.

I had to put the camera close to the ground to get these and they turned out great.

Gina made funny faces the entire time.

Of course I couldn't focus on her face as she was too far away.

Still some pretty cool shots.

Pictures I took On The Day I Spent Alone

This is me being cute for the camera.
I got really lucky and found a couple of dead giant ants and then I got a third and posed them together.
I found them dead near each other so I'm assuming they died fighting each other.


And of course I had to lay next to them so you could see their true size.
The small one is to the left of the red one. There's another dead one off to the right.
Reality Forest is amazing when it comes to its creatures.

Ants Are Big

Here's a close up of ants again.
I'm kind of bored and uninspired. So when I'm bored I take pictures of ants. These ones are crawling all over moss covered boulders.
The picture gives you a good idea about how large the ants are in Reality Forest with my hand next to them.


They're kinda cute in a way.

Ants And Gina

I snapped this cool pic of ants with Gina in the background. 

We were doing more rock searching. We didn't find many but the ants were busy working and doing there thing.

Gina Snapped With Ant

When Gina came back, I managed to get a cool pic of her with a giant ant in front of her. The ant was a couple of meters away from her. I'm still amazed these things are so huge.

And I'm amazed Gina didn't have a hissy fit after I showed her this pic.

Giant Ant Takes A Drink

I spotted one of those huge, giant ants by the stream. I managed to get a shot of it before it disappeared. 

If you look at the bottom right of the picture you'll see the normal sized ants. 

I've seen these giants before and it always amazes me.

Dipping Our Feet

Here we are dipping our feet. The water is fantastic. It's a little cool but extremely satisfying for the feet.

 

We sat and chatted for hours.

Not a single animal harassed us. Just the odd ant crawling around.

We really got to know each other.

Our plan is to map out the area with bits of braided dry grass tied to trees. This way we won't get lost again. But for now we will enjoy each other's company and the soothing water.

Gina And The Tree Full Of Ants

More exploring today.

This time we found a fallen tree that had hundreds of ants all over it. I'm sure they were using the inside as a nest.

I had to climb a tree to get these shots, but at least you can see the size of the ants that live here in Reality Forest. And these are the smallest I've seen.

They are quite harmless to us, unless you're dead.
You can see how busy they keep themselves.

Hopefully we find something to eat soon because I'm getting hungry.

Hmmm I wonder if the ants are tastey.

Find The Creatures Of Reality Forest

If you look closely in these next few pictures, you'll find lots of interesting creatures. There are at least six creatures in each picture.

 

If you were trapped here, like me, this is what you would live with every day.

At night it gets so dark you can only hear what's slithering and crawling around you.

The ant on the right is as big as my shoe. 

The smaller ants are just a bit smaller than my hand. 

The prayingmantis on the other side of the stream, on the bush, is about waist high on me. 

The little turtles are miraculously normal size and can fit in my hand.

Curious Caterpillar

I guess I'm going back to photographing animals and bugs in Reality Forest.
You can probably guess it's a pretty good size because the huge black ants are crawling around too.
It's cute how it's stretching up to look at the water.

Big Bigger Biggest

Okay this is getting ridiculous.
These are just three types of ants in the forest.
Big. Bigger. Biggest.
I collected these ants to show you.
And yes the black one is as big as my forearm.
I'm on a mission to find the largest ant in Reality Forest.

Giant Ant Eaten By Bigger Red Ant

Woo hoo! I finally got a pic of a red ant.
It took me awhile but I finally did it.
You'll notice my shoe is smaller than it.
Just hate to think it might grow even bigger than this.

Black Ants In Reality Forest

Ants are everywhere in this forest.
They grow so large here in Reality Forest.
I saw bigger red ants not too long ago and they looked intimidating.
I didn't have my camera charged to snap a pic.
These black ants will have to do today.

Fly And Ants On A Log

Here's another one of those big flies.
A whole lotta ants are on the log too.

Ants Ants Ants

Ants.
Ants.
And more ants.
I guess I shouldn't complain about them. Ants are everywhere.
I remember my apartment back in the city even had them. And I was on the 21st floor.

Ant On A Branch

Here's one of the giant ants on a branch. In this pic it looks pretty small.
I wonder what they taste like. Maybe they're kind of tasty dipped in chocolate.
On second thought, I'll just stick with berries and fish.

Stumbling In The Morning

Waking up in the morning in Reality Forest takes getting used to. When you wake up in a different place every morning it disorients you. You lose direction, get confused, stumble and fall. Kinda like a morning after a one-night-stand back in the city.
So I fell flat on my face this morning. I didn't even have time to put my hands in front of my face.
I fell into a branch and that broke my fall.
My arm will heal quick enough.

Big Ant Eating Lizard

Boy did I get lucky today. I was lucky enough to snap a pic of this big lizard eating ants.
He didn't seem to mind me being so close.
He looked like he was really enjoying the ants.
From what I've seen in this forest, this ugly thing has a lot of meals to finish.

Resting Tonight

Managed to cover more ground than I thought. Lots of flat land I hiked through.
I did manage to get a cool pic of these hard working ants earlier. The ants in the pic seem bigger, only because I had the camera so close.
But believe me the ants are mutha-fu---- huge!!!
There are many fascinating things here in Reality Forest.

Ants Are Fascinating

Ants here are particularly fascinating. They're about the size of my palm.
There was a pretty cool procession of them doing there thing so I figured I try and get a cool pic. Maybe someone out there reading this can identify the ant and try and locate me.
If any geeks out there on the world wide web read this, I'm lost in Reality Forest and can't get out.
